About Janazah
Community Services

Janazah Community Services is a 6,500 sq-ft Funeral facility & an Organization which was founded in 2020 during the height of the Coronavirus global pandemic which shook the whole world. Over 5 million people lost their lives worldwide and 50,000 of those death occurred from our state, New York. New York City like the rest of the world was placed under lockdown. A catastrophic event and time, one that our generation had never witnessed before.

During a time when all businesses, educational institutions were shutdown as well as all Masajids and other Houses of Worship, hospitals and morgues were wide open. While majority of the general population had no choice but to stay home indoors, First Responders were placed with a heavy responsibility on their shoulders. At a time of uncertainty, these First Responders chose to take on the task of saving lives all while risking their own.

Janazah (Funeral) industry.

Among all the First Responders which included Doctors, Nurses, Emergency Medical staff & personnel, and so many more, there was another profession that was highly challenged by the pandemic. It was the Janazah (Funeral) industry. With all the hospitals & city morgues being overfilled by great amounts of deaths, funeral homes were forced to fulfill a task they were not prepared nor equipped for.

A Janazah (Funeral) is the sacred holy right of the Dead upon the living. Not only is it the right of the Deceased, it is an act of obligation upon the Muslim community which is called Fard al-Kiffiyah (Communal Obligation). As unfortunate as it was, during the pandemic, the sanctity of this Islamic ritual was not properly upheld to its standards. Some of it was because of reasonable & ethical reasons and some of it was due to unreasonable & unethical reasons.

There was a major lack of individuals whether it be Licensed Funeral Directors, Funeral Coordinators, Chaplains, or Imams in the Muslim community who were willing to step forth to perform the Ghusl (Wash), Salaatul Janazah (Funeral Prayer), and Burial of the Muslims who had passed away. What we analyzed out of this whole situation was that the Muslim Community was and is in great need of such professionals in the Janazah industry as well as properly built facilities which can provide the best quality of funeral services at an affordable cost.

Janazah Community Services

Janazah Community Services is an initiative, an opportunity to educate the Muslim community and seek out individuals from within the Muslim community who are willing to step forth and learn how to fulfill this Fard al-Kiffiyah (Communal Obligation). We as an organization will teach you everything you need to learn about Janazahs. We want to educate the youth and this generation to take the necessary steps that are needed in order to uplift themselves, and the Muslim community by developing the skills required in this field of work. There are less than 10 Muslim Licensed Funeral Directors in all of NYC. We really need more Brothers & Sisters from the Muslim community to take this on as their career, as a profession, or at the least, just increase themselves in knowledge.

Our Motto

Compassion, Professionalism, and Transparency is our motto and that is what we abide by. To fulfill the rights of the dead, one has to be compassionate and have a zeal for servicing the dead. We are a growing team of hard working individuals who have willingly and voluntarily invested our health, wealth, time and efforts in serving the Muslim communities for years. Utmost professionalism with quality service is what we provide. Having built the state of the art facility with the latest funeral equipment and vehicles, to having a professionally trained staff. Lastly, there was always a major lack of transparency when it came to the monetization and privatization in the Janazah industry and that is the veil we want to pierce. Transparency is a must and that is exactly what we are. A transparent organization with a transparent process.
Taking all of the above into close consideration, a team of young professionals and organizations who have a zeal to provide such a sacred service came together and founded Janazah Community Services.
We have chosen Brooklyn, New York City to build the very first headquarters of our organization. Our vision and plan is to establish as many locations as we can nationwide to facilitate the Ummah in fulfilling this great and honorable right a Muslim has upon another Muslim. We promise to uphold and continue building the Amanah (trust) the People & the Community has entrusted us with.

Khair (Goodness) & Barakah (Blessings)

There is so much Khair (Goodness) & Barakah (Blessings) in both your Deen (Religion) and duniyah (Earthly Life). We understand that this may not be for everybody but at the very least, we want to open the doors for our Brothers & Sisters to educate themselves about the importance of Maut (Death) and the significance of a Jana’iz (Funerals) by participating in our Janazah Seminars and volunteering at our Janazah facilities. We get an abundance of cases of Muslims that do not have any one to wash them, pray Salaatul Janazah over them, and bury them. Cases such as Reverts/Converts, poor and needy cases, cases in which dead Muslims have been abandoned in morgues for months or forgotten by their own families. We as Muslims need to care for them. We will be questioned and held accountable in regards to this.
