Janazah (Funeral) is the sacred holy right of the Dead upon the living.

A Janazah (Funeral) is the sacred holy right of the Dead upon the living. Not only is it the right of the Deceased, it is an act of obligation upon the Muslim community which is called Fard al-Kiffiyah (Communal Obligation). Meaning, when a Believer (Muslim) passes away, someone from amongst the Muslims must step forth to uphold and carry out this responsibility. Whoever fulfills it is immensely rewarded and it serves as obligation fulfilled on behalf of the whole community. If no one from amongst the Muslims steps up, we all are questioned and held accountable by Allah.

Over the years, we have successfully washed, prayed over, and buried countless Muslims. Those who couldn’t afford the cost of a funeral and specifically of those who are our Convert/Revert Brothers and Sisters in Islam. With the permission of Allah, we have prevented many from being buried amongst the non-Muslims and prevented many from being cremated.

Unfortunately, we also couldn’t save many..

Cost of one Janazah

Our organization now also works directly with the OCME (Medical Examiner’s Office) in claiming Unclaimed & Unclassified deaths which have been in city mortuary holding facilities.

This is a challenging and costly project for which we seek the assistance of the community.

The Cost of one Janazah is $2,500 which includes everything. The Removal of the Deceased from the holding facility, the transportation & paperwork (Death Certificate filing & Burial Permit), the Washing & Shrouding, the transportation to the Masjid for the Janazah Prayer and the transportation to a Muslim Cemetery including a Sunnah Casket, Cost of the Grave and its Opening/Closing fee.

The REWARD of contributing & assisting towards a Janazah is the following:

* Washing your Deceased Brother or Sister:*
Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“He who washes a Muslim and conceals what he sees (i.e. odors, appearance, defects, anything loathsome), Allah grants him forgiveness forty times (forty major sins)”
Al-Hakim, Al-Bayhaqi and other (Saheeh)

*Shrouding your Deceased Brother or Sister:*
(Continuation of the Hadeeth)

“… and whoever shrouds a dead person will be shrouded/clothed by Allah from beautiful silk garments from Paradise (Jannah)…”*
Al-Hakim, Al-Bayhaqi and other (Saheeh)

**Providing/Assisting/Contributing for your
Brother/Sister with a home (dwelling – Grave) from Death until the Day of Judgement:*
